MicroComputers 1970s - Iowa 8080 Microcomputer 1977 - active in 2025 | (20 minutes) This video gives a brief history of a few of the Intel microprocessors in the early 1970s. Then the video describes the 8080 microcomputer I built in 1977 as part of a class on microcomputers taught in the physics department of the U. of Iowa. Electronics catalogs of the 1970s are shown. My invoices for parts are shown. Pictures of the computer boards and S100 bus are shown. Long-term storage was done on cassette tapes. The video shows the output from my computer in July 2025. The keyboard no longer sends correct signals to the CPU. The computer was working perfectly in 2020. |
